Was kann ich tun? weiter abwarten?
Hosting ist bei Strato. PHP8.0 . Kein Theme installiert

Ich sehe da keinen Fehler. Könnte es sein, dass der Versionssprung für Strato zu groß ist? Also der Prozess durch die vielen Pakete zu lange dauert und beendet wird?

Einen Teil hat er ja geschafft. Du könntest das Update also einfach noch starten und schauen, ob er dann dort weiter macht.

Das ist immer noch bei composer install und der Kreis dreht sich.
Was kann ich machen?

Versuche das Update doch mal per CLI in der SSH-Konsole, Die Kommandos dazu findest Du in der Contao-Doku oder auch konkret für Strato angepasst in einigen Threads hier im Forum.
Das ist leider bei einigen Strato-Accounts das einzig erfolgversprechende Mittel. Das mag mit der Auslastung der betreffenden Webserver zu tun haben oder auch einfach mit der konkreten Installation. Viele Erweiterungen bringen eben oft auch viele Paket-Updates mit sich. In meinem Test-Paket bei Strato gibt es mit den dort laufenden, nicht sehr umfangreichen, Installationen keine Probleme.

In meiner Verzweiflung habe ich nun das Backup wieder eingespielt.

Im Frontend ist ne Fehlermeldung... Service unavailable

Wie geschrieben, Webhosting-Server überlastet. Oder er wird gerade gewartet, das halte ich aber für die wesentlich unwahrscheinlichere Variante. Also Konsole benutzen oder/und zu einer Zeit probieren, wo nicht soviel los ist.

Ich hatte gedacht, wenn ich die Datenbank wieder einspiele und die Datenstruktur zurückhole, dass sofort alles wieder parat steht.
Das macht mich fertig.

Ich lass das vendor/bin/contao-console cache:clear --no-warmup mal weiter laufen, auch wenn ich irgendwie die Vermutung habe, dass das so nicht funktioniert.

und dann evtl. heute abend nochmal anstarten. Derweil suche ich mal nach der Anleitung für die Console.
Ich habe jedoch 0,0 Erfahrung mit der Console. ist das ein Problem?

Strato ist echt ein Elend. ich muss echt den Kunden bitten, auf nen anderen Hoster zu wechseln

Nein, sofern du dich per SSH verbinden kannst (putty oder das Tool deiner Wahl).
Man muss ja nur die Befehle eingeben, die hier in einem Thread zu Strato oder in der Doku zu finden sind.
Es geht sogar ohne Installation des Composers, weil der ja schon im Contao-Manager enthalten ist.

Sollte so funktionieren, wenn ich keine Copy&Paste-Fehler reingebaut habe, wenn man mit cd-Befehl in das Contao-Verzeichnis gewechselt ist (nicht public oder web, da wo die composer.json drin ist, also eins drüber):

ist ein console-Zugriff immer möglich?
Ich find das in dem Backend nicht. Das ist nur ein PowerWeb Starter.

Ich weiss es nicht. In den aktuellen Strato-Paketen ist es auch beim kleinsten Paket enthalten.
Im Backend (bei mir) unter Datenbanken und Webspace -> SFTP-Zugänge verwalten. Der SFTP-Zugang gilt auch für SSH.

Du bräuchtest wohl nur den ersten Befehl, also den mit update, der installiert dann ja auch gleich.
Bei mir hat das gerade bei einer Contao 4.13 Installation geklappt. Das muss ja bei Strato nichts heissen, kann von Server zu Server klappen oder auch nicht. Und meiner scheint relativ unproblematisch zu sein und außerdem habe ich ein größeres Paket, Hosting Basic. Aber sollte eigentlich schon klappen.

Bei Strato ist ssh nach meiner Erfahrung in allen Paketen verfügbar - auch bei sehr sehr alten kleinen Paketen.
Eines der wenigen Pluspunkte bei Strato.

@tab: kann ich nur bestätigen und dazu ermutigen; der CM ist bei mir schon über ein Jahr im Schlafmodus, Update seit dem nur über Konsole natürlich mit manuell aktuell gehaltenem Composer. Über den eingebauten Composer ist möglich, aber besser blitzschnell mit separatem Composer 2.x. Ein bis zwei gelbe unschädliche Warnhinweise werden standardmäßig übersprungen.
