Update von 4.4 auf 4.9. Hintergrundprozess unerwartet beendet

Hallo habe folgendes Problem:
Für das Umziehen einer Website (Contao 4.4) habe ich nach der Installation von Contao Version 4.9.3 mit Contao Manager
habe ich die composer.json in das Contao-Verzeichniss kopiert.
Bei der aktualisierung kam es dann zur Fehlermeldung: Der Hintergrundprozess wurde unerwartet beendet.

Weiss jemand warum dieser Fehler auftritt? Das gleiche Vorgehen hat bei anderen funktioniert.

Danke für jeden Hinweis.
