I prefer not to see the thumbnails in the Gallery list, but when I deselect the 'Show thumbnail previews' option, the Gallery list shows me all the pictures from the first page in fullsize. I am using typolight 2.8.2.

You can simply customize your gallery_xxx.tpl template, which constructs the template to show the images, so just make one NOT showing the images.
