jQuery ajax requests

Hello,

I wonder if someone could possibly help me with implementing Ajax requests using jQuery within Contao.

I want to make Ajax requests on pages and modules, for example, I would like to be able to make a Ajax request within the catalogue lister module and be able to click on an individual item (within lister page) and return the catalogue reader module via an Ajax request. This would be the same for loading of pages, basically I would like a seamless load and not to make a full HTTP server request.

What would be the best way to achieve this? I know there is a Ajax.php file that is used to simplify Ajax requests, but as I said, I'm not sure what the best way forward is, so I would appreciate some help.
