Drag and Drop Sorting in the Backend

Just out of curiosity, when in a back-end list view, is it possible to enable drag-and-drop sorting for a parent table (or a table without a parent)?

I've been playing around with it -- adding the "sorting" field and messing with various sorting modes and flags, but haven't had any luck.

It's easy for a child table (just setting the sorting mode to "4"), but I have a simple module with a single table, and I'd love to give the client the option to sort its records by dragging and dropping.

And I don't think I've ever come across an example of this in another extension, so maybe it just isn't possible.

Any tips would be appreciated greatly.
