How to pass a parameter to a module

I want to extend the form used to create new articles with one extra option. This option will be then used by a module.
Can somebody tell me how to achieve this?

You will need to extend the article table. For this you would need to create a module. This is not the easiest thing to start with :? You can find tutorials on how to write your own module. cd_collection would be a good search term ;) But you should also read into dca and hooks.

Can you describe what you want to do. Perhaps someone already made something (similar) that you can use in one way or another? ;)
