image_headline extension text line-height question
Hi All,
Regarding the image_headline extension:
- Does anyone know if the leading or letter spacing can be controlled? I tried setting the line height and letter spacing in CSS but it had no effect.
- Also, I would like to break certain headlines at a predictable location with
or but these tags seems to be cleaned out of the headline text by TL. :(
- Is there another technique I could use? Has anyone used Flash for this?

Regarding other techniques (including flash) --

http://cufon.shoqolate.com/generate/ (HTML Canvas Solution)
I used sIFR on my last project (http://collegeparkll.com/). Note the block serif headlines.
Both allow you to fine tune your fonts and add simple effects (like drop shadows). I would advise that you use either sparingly only on main headlines and such -- I way overused sIFR on my example and would not recommend that.
Re: image_headline extension text line-height question
Awesome, I will check these out. I did not see these in the extension catalog.
Many Thanks
Re: image_headline extension text line-height question
So these look promising. Do you know if the Image_headline extension is out of favor?
Seems like its been a while since it was updated.
Re: image_headline extension text line-height question
There are 2 that I know of:
Graphical Headlines: http://www.typolight.org/extension-list ... 29.en.html
Image_Headline: http://www.typolight.org/extension-list ... 19.en.html
The first -- maybe -- because it isn't listed as compatible with 2.7.
The one you are using was updated late September -- that's not too long ago, and maybe it just didn't need to be updated because its stable and no new features need to be added.
They use different techniques -- the extensions convert server-side, while my first 2 links do it client-side. They both have their advantages/disadvantages. If you don't need to fine tune your text or add drop shadows, I would probably go server-side. Note this is probably a limitation of how PHP handles converting text into graphics, and NOT of the extensions or TYPOlight itself.
That said, did you check out the README.txt file that came with image_headline? It has instructions where to put your CSS styles.
Also, there are no extensions for sIFR or Cufon but they don't need them. If you follow the installation instructions on their Websites it should be pretty easy to implement.
Re: image_headline extension text line-height question
I did but it just occurred to me that I may have a descriptor in my main file that I missed.
I have to play with all of these to see which is best for me.
Thanks!
Re: image_headline extension text line-height question
FYI, So interesting enough, some css rules seem to be ignored if I place them in the file located here
/system/modules/image_headline/html/heading.css as the readme suggest.
line-height: now works if placed in my main CSS it worked further more my width limitation did not work in the heading.css.
I suppose this is because I don't link the to the heading.css directly and so it doesn't get applied to the main template.
