Skipping typolight layout goodies?
My process when making a website in PHPWCMS was:
-Design a costum template in Fireworks
-Slice it and convert it to html tables in Dreamweaver
-Copy paste it in template section
-Each category in Site Structure was assigned to a template.
Can I easily skip the Layout goodies of Typolight and work in the same manner as in PHPWCMS for small websites?
I can understand some disadvantages of this method:
Cant move up and down the modules(I don’t really mind)
Cant use the built in css framework (I don’t really mind)
Site structure is directly nested to layout
Any thoughts, recommendations are welcome.
Re: Skipping typolight layout goodies?
You can use TL this way. If you look into the default template fe_page.tpl you'll see which php code you need to copy for each section. If you want to add specific content as well you'd need insert tags. So this means you'd insert some php code and insert tags into your generated template, but then you are ready to go...
As a sidenote:
I never use any css that comes with TL and wouldn't know if it is any good. But it'll be better then a sliced html table website. There are easier ways to build websites. I'm not suggesting you leave tables entirely because that is up to you! But you would be surprised how much easier certain parts become if you do not have to slice up everything ;)
