[Imageslider] Improvement/Change/Patch
Hi All,
I've been using the imageSlider Extension, (great extension btw) a lot on one particular page of a website (http://www.brainboxes.com homepage)
In the past we had poor page load times on this page, mainly due to the number (and size) of the image assets we were using.
I've modified ImageSlider Extension so that only the first image is loaded with the page, the rest of the images are loaded via javascript in the background after page load.
The main changes were in one php file of the original extension (ContentImageSlider.php), and I created an mootools class which extended the original javascript file (class.viewer.js) to perform ajax image loading (see it here: http://st2.brainboxes.com/system/mod...iewer.class.js)
This has improved the load performance of the page, and also corrected an issue where you could see all the images briefly as the page was loading. I would like to make this available for anyone else who may want to use it but im not sure what the best was is to go about this.
- Can I submit this patch/change to the author somehow?
- Is there a url where I can submit the changes?
- Should I release it as a new separate extension? (least preferable option, as the original author has done most of the work)
Re: [Imageslider] Improvement/Change/Patch
Hi,
We love this module but have had to stop using it because of the issue with all the images showing down the page.
I hope you can get in touch with the developer to submit the fixes.
Would you be able to submit the new files here so we can test them?
Thanks
Ben
Re: [Imageslider] Improvement/Change/Patch
I changed the ContentImageslider file (attached)
And added AjaxViewer.class.js (attached)
I also changed the template a slight bit by adding width and height to the image
All functions should work as expected, but there's always something that may go wrong.
Edit: how do I upload an attachment it doesnt seem to be working?
Re: [Imageslider] Improvement/Change/Patch
