Custom BE template

Hi,

In the BE I have created an icon (global operation) which opens a popup (with lightbox).
The problem is that the BE template automatically includes the whole interface.

I would like when you click on the icon a popup opens with only an image without the contao BE interface.
Is the only solution for this using the hook $GLOBALS['TL_HOOKS']['outputBackendTemplate'][]?
