Variants in a quicker way?

Hi everybody

I'm working on a shop where every product has different variants. There a no changes to the SKU, prices, images etc. in the variants.

Every product has 2-4 variants.

Example:
Product one
SKU: 12345678
Variants:
- 701510.248 steel
- 701510.249 chrome

It will to much work to create a new Attribute to every product. So I'd hoped that there was a solution in Isotope to quick add these variants per product.

In the front end the variant should show up as a select menu.

Could this be done somehow?

I'm not exactly sure I understood what you want, but I'll try to answer.

As I understood you can have product x and y. Let's say there is only one choice for the customer. This would be the two products:

Product X
material: steel, chrome

Product Y
material: steel, chrome or aluminium

Your problem here is that as an attribute the "material" will always show ALL options. Variants would allow you to choose which options to show, but take a lot of work.

A solution would be if you could disable options from the attribute. That way variants are not needed. Take a look at this extension: http://www.contao.org/extension-list/vi ... elect.html
