Listing, custom fields

Dear Contao community,

for my Contao installation I would like to present a structured listing of people, alphabetically would be ok, and then present it rigidly with the same formatting. I was first thinking I could use a news listing for this, entering every person as a new article. Then perhaps using explode() to separate a single string of info into variables, provided that info is stored the same way. But are there smarter ways to do this, preferably with a more specialized extension? I would say I need 4-5 custom fields.
