I am sorry, I am very very new to this!
I tried to verify my site with google, uploaded the file, added html (well tried to) but none of the methods I could employ correctly so that I could be identified as the site owner.
Could someone please help me through the steps for any one method. Thanks a lot!
Which Contao version are you using?
Usually the site owner verification works like a charm if you simply upload the provided html-file from Google (with a crazy file name like msuf09w29r2r2thg4w.html - just an example) into the root of your webspace. Try to open this file afterwards by typing the address into your browser address bar, like www.yourdomain.com/msuf09w29r2r2thg4w.html (you need to change the domainname and file name of course). If you are able to open it in your browser, try to start the owner verification process again at Google webmaster tools.
