There is a small tutorial at https://youtu.be/sOdzYvqY_ak. This one has been created with Contao 2.9, but there are no major changes in Contao 3, so I think you will be fine with it.
If i am not wrong that tutorial just shows on how to create protected page.Quote:

You have to create a module 'Login form' with the desired settings and simply place it on your site.
