secondary language not showing

I'm having a little issue with the changelanguage extension, most probably because I've never used it before

I copied the entire website structure, assigned another language to it's root ( italian while the original is english, unchecked fallback on italian )

I modified some of the italian pages to test the functionality but the language switcher isn't showing me the option to switch to italian, it just gives me the UK flag ( or EN text ) not linked to anything

if I manually type the italian page url then the UK flag is correctly linked to the corresponding page in english


any ideas about what I'm doing wrong?

italian pages and articles are published and pages have italian language assigned...

sorry guys
after checking 10 times I realized the italian root wasn't published (despite pages accessed directly were displaying correctly)

Sh!t happens :D
