I need help with my contao install!

I am as new of a newbie as you can get, I barely know how to use html and css, yet I have been building my site from scratch and its working one baby step at a time. I installed (or in the middle of installing) contao so i can manage the site with ease i.e. adding news updates and events etc...

I am still at the install stage, I just saved a password and generated an encryption key and now im at this third step, Check Database Connection and right under it it says could not connect to database. The parameters i have (and what is currently in each box) are:

driver: mySQL
host: localhost
username:
password: •••••
database:
persistent connection: yes/no
character set: UTF8
port number: 3306

I dont know what I supposed to have here and the password it shows as 5 characters was there already, i didnt type anything there.

ANY HELP PLEASE?

You must write the parameters of your mysql connection, the password could be that you have stored in your browser, retype

Do you have the credentials for your database connection? Anyway, you should first create a new database (with tools like phpMyAdmin or with similar options in your web administration panel).
