Default Mmenu a responsive menu integrated into Contao

I've started with an extension that adds mmenu to Contao. Mmenu is a jQuery plugin that is very customizable and features a mobile menu navigation and advanced menu (see the demo at http://mmenu.frebsite.nl/)

What I would like is some feedback, I've added the basic options and the template contains some CSS to make it all work. Any feedback is welcome!

    Hi Ruud,

are you aware that there is already another mmenu extension in the repository?

No, and I DID search before starting my own plugin. Honestly Contao is not doing well in the international approach if I can't even find an extension when searching for "mmenu". I could have handled a German extension and could even have written a translation, instead I was tricked into writing a competing plugin that will do the exact same thing. I'll review the German extension, then decide what I'll do with mine.

We have just spent ages implementing a menu system like Mmenu but not as a module, just using css and html.

Then I saw this release of Mmenu and thought that could have saved us loads of time. Now I see there is one in the German ER.

There does really need to be more help for the international users, even if it's just a way to show German modules in the English version ER. I don't ever check the German ER.

I agree with both of you! Unfortunately, the ER search function on the project website (atm) finds only those extensions that include the appropriate language files, i.e. if you search from the German web page it lists only extensions that have been published with German language files—on the other side, if you search from the English web page you'll get only extensions that include (at least) the English language files (by the way, there are also a couple of extensions that are not listed when you only search with the search engine on the German website).

Anyway, that is certainly not satisfactory!

After all it is a problem that actually affects only the project website, since the extension catalog in the Contao back end – by default – shows both German and English search results:

To address this problem, the guys from the ContaoPool have built an improved search function for Contao extensions:

CERIS (Contao Extension Repository Informations System): http://www.contao-pool.de/ceris.html

Do you know who is responsible for the search engine in the ER? I would like to submit a request for a change. Anyone needs to be able to be informed that there may be matching extensions in a language they are not using.
The search engine on the project website is managed by Leo Feyer. So, you'd have to contact him for that matter.

A year ago, I've also mentioned that topic in the official tracker and pointed out the issue: https://github.com/contao/core/issue...mment-10804852

Basically, it should be mandatory (!) to add (at least) English language files when it comes to publish a new extension to the extension repository.

I don't like their minimalistic approach in displaying the extension list. It makes quickly browsing the list nearly impossible. The only option Leo needs to introduce is an option with which a language can be chosen (eg checkboxes for all, english, german, ...)

I was thinking of this too. This will be an important step to make the system accessible to the world. Another thing would be to have Github issues be in English only. I've reported numerous issues that were already reported in German.

If there only was an official English forum as active as the German...
