    Default Multi-domain Files URL

    Hey,

I don't completely understand how Files URL work for multi domain.

My idea was to have in the /files directory subfolder for each domain... and Web site root Files URL would be set for each domain /files/domain1/ /files/domain2 etc... but it does not work this way.

How would I properly segregate files for each domain under one Contao instalation? Any suggestions?

    Regard,
    Darjan

You cannot separate the files per domain. The only thing you can do here is to set a different Files and Assets URL for each Domain (for each Website Root). But each file would still be accessible through any of these Domains.

Ok... then I don't really understand the purpose of setting the Files URL... if folder /files is accessible for for all domains.

    Can you give an example?

The purpose of setting the files and assets URL is
    • to separate them from the main domain, so that browsers can potentially download the files faster, since there will be no Cookies sent with the response headers from the files or assets domain
    • to provide the possibility of setting a CDN, which can also improve loading times and reduces server load for the main domain
