Default Help with Installation: There is no Install.php in the downloaded files.

    Hello all!

I am new to Contao and am quite excited to give it a try. I found the INstallation page of the Contao manual and followed the directions but when I download Contao 4.4.8 there is no install.php file anywhere within the folder structure. I tried downloading the tar.gz and I alos tried via curl, I guess this takes the same file though anyway. I tried installing composer but one of the instructions was to move composer.phar to /usr/local/bin/composer but I do not see to have write access here, nor do I see to be able to use su, I get the following: "sudo: effective uid is not 0, is sudo installed setuid root?".

I'm trying to install Contao on my Bluehost linux hosting. Here: http://danchristos.com

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Great, looks good.

You can also try if the Contao Manager works on your host:

Now the thing is I managed to get it installed by adding in some rules to my .htaccess file. This got the installation going, but when I ran the contao check it told me that Contao doesn't use .htaccess anymore and that I nothing abover the document root should be publicly accessible via http. But I have other things in my public_html folder that I want to be able to access on this domain.. So I'm confused as to what to do. I guess I could just access them via FTP when I need to, but this is a little annoying.

So I unassigned the domain danchristos.com from within bluehost and reassigned it to the contao's web directory and now I can still get into the contao backend but the check facility wont run at all:
    http://danchristos.com/check/
    "Oops! An Error Occurred
The server returned a "404 Not Found".
Something is broken. Please let us know what you were doing when this error occurred. We will fix it as soon as possible. Sorry for any inconvenience caused."

The Contao Check works, but you need to open it via the index.php script: http://danchristos.com/check/index.php

    Contao 4 check: http://danchristos.com/check/index.php?c=contao4
