Daumen runter Why did Contato get so Complicated

I always used Contato in the Prvious Versions.

But now since the Version 4 Contato is not anymore a CMS i would suggest for other People.
Is it not stable anymore the instalation takes way longer because it always gets errors and it is not as easy to use anymore.

On my Server everything is Green. But when want to start the Contato Manager it tells me "Der Contao Manager konnte einen Konsolentask nicht starten!"

It used to be fun, and now it is just frustrating!

I agree. It's not for an average user anymore. I am struggling every time when I have to install new copy.

    I found one explanation here:

    https://pmueller.de/contao-4-kein-buch-von-mir/

Simply, Contao has changed it's target group from average users to professionals.

Contao hat sich mit der 4er-Version professionalisiert und ist eher zu einem Werkzeug für Agenturen geworden. Die Anforderungen sowohl an den Webspace als auch an das Know-how des Betreibers sind dadurch ziemlich gestiegen.

From my experience I find that once Contao 4 is installed, it is an improvement on previous versions. Even for "average users" like me.

However, the install is a poorly documented disaster (IMHO). See my earlier posts on the difficulties it caused for me. I would not recommend it at the moment, even though I have not found an alternative CMS that separates content, structure and format so nicely. The install is definitely scaring off "average users" (and probably a few "professional" ones). I think this is unfortunate.

I am not trying to offend the developers. Just provide feedback on my experiences. In most areas, I find contao still excels once it is installed.
