Update auf 4.5 mit Manager ???

Hallo zusammen,

bei der Suche nach Hinweisen über den Verbleib der "dcaconfig.php" bin ich auf der Homepage von CONTAO auf die neueste Version "4.5" gestoßen.
Ich habe mich gefragt, warum der "Manager" diese Version nicht einfach installiert (via Update)?

Kann mir hier irgendjemand dabei helfen?

Weil nicht jeder die LTS-Version verlassen will. Das sollte man dann schon gezielt tun.

Die 4.5er bringt mit dem Umbau der Benutzerauthentifizierung und dem Umstieg auf innodb zwei große Änderungen mit sich. Erfahrungsgemäß tauchen da noch ein paar Probleme auf. Unabhängig von einer LTS Version, dies ich meistens bevorzuge, empfiehlt es sich zu informieren was geändert wurde und ggf. 2-3 Bugfixreleases abzuwarten.

Wobei, wenn ich das so weiter empfehle, wer findet dann die Fehler im produktiv Einsatz? [emoji848]

Wenn es keine speziellen Gründe gibt setze ich für meine Kunden auch nur LTS-Versionen ein.

Einiges fällt auch bei Tests auf und meine eigene Installation werde ich wohl demnächst auch anfassen um ein paar Erfahrungen zu bekommen. Gelegentlich nehme ich mir auch Kundeninstallationen, die ich auf einem Entwicklungsserver oder local testweise auf eine neue Version anhebe um zu sehen, was mir alles auf die Füße fällt.

4.5 bringt einige neue nützliche Features mit (ganz zu Schweigen vom kompletten Umbau der Benutzerauthentifizierung).

ein Update wäre hier für mich nur interessant, wenn ich als Anwender ein Killerfeature vorfinde. Habe ich da was übersehen? Ich meine nicht die Admin-Freuden wie InnoDB.

Was ein "Killerfeature" ist liegt ja im Auge des Betrachters. Ab Contao 4.5 braucht man zB zumindest zwei meiner Extensions nicht mehr, die ich ansonsten in jeder Contao 4 Installation verwendet hätte (news_sorting und youtube_iframe zB). Siehe auch

Meine Frage war: "Warum kann ich im Manager nicht von 4.4.* auf 4.5.* updaten?"

Auch wenn "Feature" nicht mehr verwendet wirdbzw. nunmehr in der Version vorhanden ist, o.d.g. Wichtig ist für mich - wie nehme ich das Update vor?
Manuell oder automatisch?

Zur Beruhigung mancher Community-User: Es ist eh ein Parallel-System, nicht mein Produktiv-System :-)

Aus Entwicklersicht gibt es da sehr viele Sachen:

- Symfony Translator für Contao Sprachdateien
- Registrierung von Hooks direkt in der Container-Konfiguration
- Fragments für Ces/Module
- Symdonfy Security

Ganz zu schweigen von dem nun konfigurierbaren Aliases (Stichwort Umlaute).

Ob es einen das Wert ist die Vorzüge einer LTS über den Haufen zu werfen, muss man halt pro Projekt für dich beantworten.

Du kannst im Contao Manager sehr wohl von 4.4.* auf 4.5.* updaten, indem Du beim Paket "Contao Open Source CMS" auf das Zahnradsymbol klickst und im Eingabefeld dann anstelle von 4.4.* die neue Version 4.5.* einträgst. Nur musst Du das eben manuell machen.

Doch, das kannst du. Nur halt derzeit nicht durch einen einfachen Klick. Ändere die Versionsanforderung von Contao im Manager auf "4.5.*" und übernehme die Änderungen. Schon wird das Update durchgeführt.

Hallo zusammen,

great! Das ist ja wirklich "einfach" :-) Es hat soweit funktioniert, kann mich auch beim "BackEnd" anmelden, doch zum "Installtool" gibt es Probleme :-(
Die Anmelde-Maske kommt und ich kann auch mein PW eintragen - Danach meldet es jedoch "Fehler" und bricht ab.

Wo kann ich ansetzen? Soll ich einmal die Fehlermeldung hier posten?

das klingt logisch - nachvollziehbar.
Doch in welcher Datei steht das?
Und interessant finde ich, dass er zunächst auf 4.5.1 das Update
vorgenommen hat - statt auf 4.5.2.

Anyway! Der erste Fehler ist nun wichtiger ????????

Ich verstehe leider nicht, was Du meinst. Wieso sollte auf 4.5.2 upgedated werden? Diese Version wurde noch nicht released.

sorry! Ich war leider durch mein Studium sehr stark beschäftigt, so dass ich erst heute wieder dazu komme :-)
Meine Frage war noch gewesen, in welcher Datei muss ich diese Änderung vornehmen & wo finde ich diese?

Wegen Update auf 4.5.2 => Sorry; doch in einem Comment vom FIXing stand geschrieben, dass man auf 4.5.2 updaten sollte bzw. dieser Fehler in 4.5.2 behoben wäre.
Also nicht "böse" von mir gemeint :-(

befasse mich grad mit der Frage, wie lässt sich über den Contao-Manager auf Version 4.5 updaten?
Mit Download von contao-manager.phar (von der Downloadseite) und anschließendem Aufruf, Pakete installieren etc. stehe immer noch Contao 4.4* im Mananger.
Wenn ich auf im Manager bei Contao Open Source CMS das Zahnrädchen klicke und da 4.5* eintrage, anschließend auf Anwenden klicke,
dann kommt eine Fehlermeldung. Hat anscheinend mit der composer.json zu tun ?

Wie muß man hier genau vorgehen?

. Ich kann mir aufgrund der vorliegenden Informationen auch nicht erklären, warum die vorhin erwähnten Bundles auf 4.4.16 "gelocked" sind.

Sollte ich vielleicht mal auf dem Server die relevanten Datei-Ordner, Dateien und DB sichern, dann die Installation komplett löschen und mit der www.Domain.de/contao-manager.phar.php neu aufsetzen?

Um Gottes Willen, nein, das sollte nicht notwendig sein. Hast du SSH Zugriff? Wenn ja führe das composer update mal darüber aus.

Verwende auf einem Shared Hosting nie den global installierten Composer, wenn du ihn nicht selbst verwalten kannst.

Welche PHP Version verwendet deine Contao Installation.
