ich wollte von 4.11.8 auf 4.12.0 wechseln und bekomme unter Punkt 3, composer install nachfolgende Meldung mit der ich als normaler Anwender nicht anfangen kann. Bitte um Hilfe.

Hm, das scheint ein Bug im Composer zu sein (bzw. PHP selbst). Hier scheint is_readable true zurück zu geben, statt false.

ich habe es jetzt bei verschiedenen Installationen probiert, immer wieder Fehlermeldung wie oben.
Ich habe auch probiert nur den RockSolid Slider auf die neuste Version zu setzen, geht aber auch nicht.
Könnte das Problem am neuen Contao-Manager liegen?

Ihr könntet dort ein composer install mit richtiger composer.phar testen. Wenn der Fehler weiterhin auftritt, dann einen Bug Report mit allen nötigen Infos erzeugen. Inkl. dem Hinweis dass hier evt. sogar ein PHP Bug vorliegt, denn file_get_contents('/proc/version') sollte ja gar nicht ausgeführt werden, da zuvor is_readable('/proc/version') überprüft wird.

Ihr könntet dort ein composer install mit richtiger composer.phar testen. Wenn der Fehler weiterhin auftritt, dann einen Bug Report mit allen nötigen Infos erzeugen. Inkl. dem Hinweis dass hier evt. sogar ein PHP Bug vorliegt, denn file_get_contents('/proc/version') sollte ja gar nicht ausgeführt werden, da zuvor is_readable('/proc/version') überprüft wird.

Ok, sonst hätte man es mal mit einer anderen Version testen können. Mag ja sein, dass der Bug nur bei bestimmten Konstellationen von Partitionen auftritt und sogar bis heute noch drin ist. Jedenfalls ist der Fehler relativ leicht zu isolieren, der Code der den Fehler erzeugt ist ja sehr begrenzt und kann praktisch fast 1:1 rausgeschnitten und in ein eigenes PHP-Skript kopiert werden, das dann auch den Fehler bringen müsste, nötigenfalls müsste man das Skript dann halt so aufbohren wie letztens bei All-Inkl, so dass der Code im gleichen Kontext läuft wie auch beim Manager. Das kann man dann Alfahosting oder wer auch immer sonst zuständig ist zur Verfügung stellen, das klappt ja dann manchmal sogar . Den Hoster würde ich da deshalb dazunehmen oder mit den PHP-Entwicklern zusammenbringen, weil der am besten weiss, wie sein Server von der Software, den Partitionen, Filesystemen, Raids usw her aussieht. Oder weil er notfalls einfach den Server hat, auf dem der Fehler auftritt. Es ist ja offenbar kein Fehler, der bei allen Hostern auftritt, sonst hätten ihn wesentlich mehr User bekommen.

Nachdem das Update von 4.9.19 auf 4.9.20 den Fehler wirft, habe ich eine komplett neue Site versucht zu erstellen. Auch das schlägt fehl.

Es gibt aber auch schon PHP Version 8.0 und Version 8.0 OP cache.

Es scheint ein Problem mit dem Manager (vllt in Zusammenhang mit Alfahosting) zu sein. Über die Konsole funktioniert das Update ohne Probleme.

Dann hat es vermutlich damit zu tun, dass der fragliche Code im Manager in einem anderen Kontext läuft. Nicht direkt aus der Kommandozeile gestartet, sondern in einem vom Webprozess erzeugten Prozess. Es gibt da auch im PHP-Manual zur Funktion is_readable unter "Notes" Hinweise, zur möglichen Ursache.

Keep in mind that PHP may be accessing the file as the user id that the web server runs as (often 'nobody')

The check is done using the real UID/GID instead of the effective one.

Beim Aufruf des Composeres direkt in der Kommandozeile sind "effective UID/GID" die selben wie die "real UID/GID", während das beim Aufruf im Konsolenprozess des Managers möglicherweise nicht so ist. Das heißt, wenn der User, unter dem der Webserver läuft '/proc/version' sehen und lesen kann, liefert is_readable true zurück. Der Konsolenprozess des Managers sieht aber eventuell '/proc/version' nicht oder darf es nicht lesen. Abgesehen davon gibt es im Netz auch noch andere Hinweise auf Konfigurationen, bei denen is_readable einen anderen Wert liefert als erwartet.

Wechseln in ein neueres Webhostingpaket mit SSH-Zugang, bei alfahosting oder wo auch immer. Oder mal dein Problem dem alfahosting Support schildern, vielleicht schalten Sie dir ja den SSH-Zugang frei oder bieten eben den Umzug auf einen aktuellen Tarif an. Soweit ich das gestern auf die Schnelle gesehen habe, ist da ja ein SSH-Zugang schon ab dem kleinsten Tarif enthalten.

Siehe die Posts in diesem Thread. Das Problem lässt sich unabhängig von Composer oder Contao Manager über den Web Prozess reproduzieren. Mit dieser Informationen und dem Test Script muss an den Hoster herangetreten werden.

Würde ich auch empfehlen, sollte man in jedem Fall versuchen. Die beste Lösung wäre aus meiner Sicht, wenn alfahosting /proc/version für den Benutzer lesbar machen würde.
Bzw hat denn schon jemand getestet, warum der Code direkt auf der Kommandozeile oder per Browser gestartet den Fehler nicht bringt? Ist es so, dass is_readable() false zurückliefert oder ist da /proc/version tatsächlich lesbar?
Weiss denn jemand, wie lange die Codezeile schon in der jetzigen Form in Composer drin ist? Man sollte meinen, dass sie auch früher schon bei alfahosting hätte Probleme machen sollen, außer wenn die Funktion zu der sie gehört - weshalb auch immer - da noch nicht aufgerufen wurde.
