Default Unable to create new article

    Hi All

I just installed Typolight 2.7.6 and could login as administrator.
But in the admin site, I am not able to create any new article.

When I clicked on New Article, the "TYPOlight CMS" icon and words appeared and nothing happened.

    Any advice.

    Thank you.

Go into System > Settings and enable error reporting. Then, post your error messages here so we have more info to help you get through this.

Have you created any pages under "Site Structure" yet? You will need at least 1 page on which to create an article.

    Thank you Markhurd.

After reading http://dev.typolight.org/wiki/1/Tutoria ... mTemplates, i am able to create articles now.

Typolight is quite different from all the other CMS (postnuke, xoops, drupal) we tried before.

Not sure if it is suitable for our use. Right now, we are using Xoops for our Intranet, and we have Xoops modules like News, SmartSection, SmartFAQ for our company employees to post news articles, FAQ, etc. The links to post News, FAQ, etc., are all in the front page of our Intranet and our staff just need to click on Post News to enter his article and then hit Submit.

Is this possible in Typolight now? Or does the ordinary user need to do to the admin section to post News article, etc?

Any advice? Thank you once again.

    cmgui,

Frontend editing is not possible, so all content editing is done through the admin area. For more info, watch my screencast in the bottom left of this page: "How to use the news module" http://www.typolight.org/books-and-videos.html. It also covers how to add a page, article and content elements.

To piggy-back on Ben's post - although all users must login to the admin panel to make site updates, they do not have to be full administrative users.

TL has a flexible permission system that can limit certain user accounts to specific functionality.

Right - like what Mark said, I usually set up people in a user's group called "Site editors" and I only give them access to Articles, News, Site structure and File manager. I also remove extra fields that they would never use, such as "CSS class / id".

This gives them a very simplistic view where they probably won't become confused and where they can't get into too much trouble.
