    Default Moving a Typolight Installation

    Hi,

I have completed my Website on a local server. The website is for a number of women within a small organisation. They wish to each individually edit it. However they are all placed in different locations. How can i put Typolight on each of their computers and allow them to edit this website?

    Thanks Aoife

Next step is to find a webhosting and upload the site there.

Then they can all use their browsers to access the site.

Yes i have the web hosting already got and a live server.

But can they all have typolight downloaded on their computers? as they will all need to be a back end user from different computers?

They dont need to download typolight. The backend is just a web application like the frontend, only it requires a password.

Technically all you need to do is create a backend user for each person and tell them theire username, password and the URL of the backend.

    Really?
    Oh my god thats brilliant!

how do they log into it??? iv made accounts for them, however is there a special address they would enter in the web browser in order to access the backend.

Sorry about the ridiculous questions im just very confused!

    thanks for all your help!

For example when your public website is http://www.thenewsite.com, the backend would be http://www.thenewsite.com/typolight

But how did you get into the backend by now if you dont know that?

I clicked onto the second link there and the webpage appears? there is no typolight backend login account??

You see the people using this will be working off different computers. I thought i would need to install typolight into all the computers in order to edit the back end?

No, you cant click on those 2 example links above.

You wrote above that you already have a hosting, and normally you would get then also a brand new URL name which you would use instead of "www.thatnewsite.com".

But from your answers I assume you are not yet there, aren't you? You might still be running the site on your local PC only (XAMPP or MAMP ore something like that)?

Yes i am currently working off local host and MAMP on my own computer.

But This week i have to move it onto the live server of a University for a Women's Organisation. So i am unsure what to do you see. Im just worried that i will need to download Typolight onto all their machine and MAMP, in order for them to edit it?

Typolight does not give direct instructions about the next step here so im very lost.

Thank you for being so patient and helpful with me.

    Please read this:

It should explain the next steps you need to take.

    So once this is complete,

The users will not have to have Typolight installed in their own computer? they can access the backend from any computer?

    Exactly.

You can manage backend from any computer with internet connection: home, internet cafe, whatever.

His link was simply an example URL; there is no actual site at that address. Once your site is correctly set up, adding "/typolight" to the end of the URL will bring you to the TL backend.
