Your TYPOlight version 2.6.7 is up to date

Hi,

Just a quick question about the Live Update service...

When I go to the System Maintenance section in the Live Update section is states:

Your TYPOlight version 2.6.7 is up to date

...but clearly this is not the latest stable release.

Can anyone tell me how I get Live Update to bring me up-to-date please?

I've run into this issue a few times. Just click through to update it and it will probably work.

Well I tried the live update, but it didn't seem to do anything...

...so I tried again today.
On going to live update it asked if I wanted to go to 2.8.1, so I went for it, asking that it backup the files before hand...

...alas now I can't do anything on the site...

It showed me the screen saying it was updating all the files, I clicked on the link to continue
and it looked as though it was going to a page called maintenance.do or something like that, but nothing came up.
When I opened up another tab to log in to the backend I typed in my username and password and I just get a blank screen.
If I go to the frontend I get the "An error occurred while executing this script!" message.
Looking in the error.log I have...

So does anyone know how I either

(a) get the files back that the liveupdate put somewhere
or
(b) get the upgrade process to complete so my site is working again?

I've done some further digging and I suspect the live update hasn't updated everything it needs to...

Looking at the directory listing for system/libraries I get

If I download the 2.8.1 zip file and upload all the files from that directory to my server, will that solve the problem? or is there more to it than that?

You can change the build number in the system/constants.php file, to downgrade your system so live update detects this correctly, or (2) you have to manually transfer the files using FTP.... remember to follow the guidelines on the TL site, of which files to backup before, the most important file is: system/config/localconfig.php.... and backup any other files you might have edited. Also copy the contents folders of modules and plugins and drivers, so you don't overwrite any installed ones, if you dragged the parent over it will remove the children that were installed by the extension manager. And, don't transfer the folders like system/html, system/log, /templates and /tl_files (which are only there for samples).
