Site search not working

I am almost done with creating a new website with TL. Everything works fine, but when I enter a word into the search box, there are never any results. I created a search box and a search engine module and as far as I can tell they're OK.
I may be overlooking something obvious, but I can't find what it is...

Update: The contact form is also not working. I'm wondering if anything could be wrong with the data being submitted by the forms.

Your search issue:
This could be a couple of things. The first thing to check is to make sure you have "enable searching" on.

Go to settings on the left and make sure "enable searching" is checked on (This is usually done by default). Maybe you turned this off because it is a development website?

Yes, you're right, I didn't have the search enabled on the system > settings page. I must have accidentally turned it off...
