Add the ability to become a site member on "normal" forms

We have a registration form for an event that we would like to add the ability for registrants to become members of the site when they fill out that form. Can this be done somehow?

what do you mean "for an event"?
can you remake the form using a registration module?
you could possibly add extra event fields http://www.contao.org/adding-custom-fields.html and use a createNewUser hook to send cetain data regarding your event elsewhere. http://www.contao.org/hooks.html
