getting errors upon installation

I have tried making the tmp folder access 777 but that did not work either.

I've seen this error before. It's never happened on a shared hosting environment -- just once on a VPS, and recently on our own servers. Moreover it comes back whenever you update your PHP version.

In our case it was a permissions issue, but I'm not sure how to solve it. Let me ask our admin what he had to do to fix it.

Like Ramjet said, try running the system check tool. But in our case, I remember it not finding anything helpful.

try clearing the browser cache and the cookies as well. After restarting your browser it should work.
