Which version Contao are you using?
Are you using the default template, what is the sorting order, did you enable pagination?

2.9.1+ does not seem to address an issue like you describe. Lets assume the system works ok. Did you enable moderation? That would men comments might be in the queue to be approved?

I am unfortunately not a frequent comments user, so I can't give you a sure answer. Can you compare what you set up to http://demo.contao.org/contao/main.php? ... =edit&id=7 (online demo page: http://demo.contao.org/news-reader/item ... turns.html)

If you post comments onto any Contao site, it will appear immediately. The only way the comment won't show, is if you enabled moderation or you enforce login. Moderation will hold the comment back until you have approved the comment. I find moderation moot, because you can simply have the comment posted, and if you don't like it, you can simply delete it, since you get an e-mail about it anyway.

You also have to remember that you can comment News, Events, FAQ, Articles, Pages (via a Module) and they all use different templates... News and Events only allow comments on a detail News/Event Reader module.
