Product List module with Filter

I have a product list with a drop down filter. Initially filter is empty and product list module list all products under the chosen category. How can I have product lister don't show any product initially and it shows only when filter is set.

So far no response! I assume its not easy to get it done right!
Another Option--
By default isotope filter is alway active, ie when you change a select option, it'll submit the form automatically and load its result. Can we do it in different way! First select options and then hit a submit button to load the result. Easier?

It is submitted only with javascript, just remove the script to submit manually.
