PDF in a lightbox

Hi, I want to view a PDF in a lightbox,
I can get it to work if I set my link to 'External Site (in a lightbox) and write the URL to my PDF

but I actually want to link to an article in a lightbox that shows the PDF and some other elements below it (e.g. a coloured bar and a 'Back button'

I've tried creating an article with a 'text' element and writen an 'a href' in the text/html of my article but this creates a link to my PDF instead of opening it automatically.
I've also tried using iframe (I allowed tags in settings) but my code gets stripped out.

Grateful for any help, this is driving me nuts! :x

I got this to work using an iframe but I've been told that it's not a great way of coding,
I've decided to make a slideshow from my pdf using ce_slider which gives me neater arrow controls instead of an ugly scrollbar.

Hope this helps anyone else reading this.
