Download after leaving information

I am new here and hope not make bigger mistakes!

Currently people can download articles from my homepage without any restriction. I would like to change this in the way that an interested person first needs to leave name, email-address, etc before the download starts/can be started.

I did not find any hint so far (maybe I don't know the suitable search terms) and appreciate any information on how to realize this functionality.

Why don't you let them first register as a member. You then provide the download link on a page that is only visible for online members.
