Default Contao 3.2.3 installation on hostgator

    Hello,
I am unable to install a new version of contao 3.2.X on my hoster hostgator. I already precise that versions 3.1.X works perfectly.
The problem comes once the installation asks me to create the tables. I click on proceed and then I have a timeout and nothing is working anymore.
Really strange. I saw several persons having the same issue.
    I'll appreciate any help
    Thanks in advance
    Massimo

I have no clue what's going on. What's the value for the "Max Execution Time" PHP setting?

That should – in any case – be enough.

How do you connect to the database server, via localhost or via an external server?

localhost. I attach a pdf file of phpinfo. Reading some of your posts I also switched between mysqli and mysql and it does not work neither

Hmm, strange. I can offer you to take a (short) look on the problem. I would then try to perform the installation task by myself.

I need the credentials (FTP, database, etc.). For this, please contact me by PM.

    Hello,

Just to keep the community update on this issue, I got an answer from my hosting provider hostgator which you can find below. In my search I saw that other users have similar issue with other providers http://forum.contao.fr/installation/...-t2926-15.html
I tried the suggested solution (inserting sql tables manually) it seems to work but once I install the modules through the backend it does not work anymore.
Now I am facing with a dilemma ... changing provider or change CMS

    Best regards

    Massimo

    ------------------------------
    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting us!

We have taken a look at the issue and it appears that the problem is due to the SQL syntax and the shared environment of the server. The SQL code which the script attemps to run queries "INFORMATION_SCHEMA" directly, which is rather slow due to the sheer amount of data in this database. It takes longer to query this than the maximum execution time permits, which causes it to fail.

The error message which pointed os in this direction is below:

Fatal error: Uncaught exception Exception with message Query error: Lost connection to MySQL server during query (SELECT * FROM `INFORMATION_SCHEMA`.`COLUMNS` WHERE `TABLE_SCHEMA` LIKE 'lupomas_csce32' AND `TABLE_NAME` LIKE '%tl_article') thrown in system/modules/core/library/Contao/Database/Statement.php on line 282

The particular parts of interest are "lost connection to mysql server.." and "SELECT * FROM `INFORMATION_SCHEMA`". It times out while attempting to pull that data. It does this because the shared environment of our shared servers causes there to be a rather large amount of data present there.

Unfortunately it appears that the only way to complete the installation would be direct database import without the use of the script. This is because the way the script is configured to run right now is not ideal for our shared services.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns!

    Thank you,

Would it work if you do not update all the database tables at once? That is, only one table at a time.

No it does not work. Once executed, timeout.

Too bad. Then, I would consider changing the hosting service. Really!
