Frage Could not connect to database!

i am trying to connect to my localhost database, but it says "Could not connect to database!" for some reason? i was even able to change the install password and generate a new encryption key, but then this error came up for some reason? port is set as 3306 and username, password etc are all correct...

ok that was quick... i used the local ip instead and it worked...
although then it said that the database is not up to date and wanted to do "ALTER TABLE `tl_search_index` CHANGE `id` `id` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment;" for some reason?
(i am using a mysql dump and downloaded files from a live site)

still wonder.. why doesnt it connect to the database when i use "localhost" instead of "127.0.0.1"
it seems to cause a lot of issues, so i need to fix it somehow :s

i think i solved it myself by accident i saw some random pictures of phpmyadmin gui and saw 2 root accounts in there - so i had to create a root account with a localhost hostname also (i only had 1 with the ip as hostname)
