Default Preparing Contao for the first Article

    Hello Community,

I've got a fresh installation of Contao 3.5.0 and I tried to setup the CMS to create some sample articles.

Because there are not default templates and themes included it is required to perform a huge number of clicks and configurations to get the system up an running. At the moment I cannot create a new article. I tried to follow the getting-started-guides. But without success.

    My Problem:
    * When trying to add a new article the new dataset cannot be placed underneath the root element. The hint 'please choose the new position of the element' is pointing to an empty yellow box.

Additionally for Contao 3.5.0 I did not find any demo application to get started with. Is there a way to download a database dump?

    Hi Mario,

may I ask you to provide a screenshot to help resolve your issue?

You might also want to check the official Contao demo; can you add a new article there?

I did click on 'new Article' within the ment item 'Content > Articles'.
Within the demo installation of Contao 3.5.0 I have got not problems to add new articles.

There's no regular page. Please show a screenshot of your site structure or add there a new (regular) page ("Layout" > "Site structure"). You cannot add an article without an (regular) page.

    Hello,

I think die 'Welcome' node is already a representation of a page I did add. Here is the screenshot of the Site Strructure:

    site-structure-page.PNG

And here are some details regarding that page:

    Code:
    ID: 1
    Parent ID: 0
    Sorting value: 128
    Revision date: 2015-07-20 12:11
    Page name: Welcome
    Page alias: welcome
    Page type: Website root
    Page title: Welcome at Linux-Support.com
    Language: de
    Robots tag:
    Page description:
    Redirect type: 301 Permanent redirect
    Redirect page:
    Link target:
    Open in new window: no
    Domain name:
    Files URL:
    Assets URL:
    Language fallback: yes
E-mail address of the website administrator:
    Date format: Y-m-d
    Time format:
    Date and time format:
    Create an XML sitemap: yes
    Sitemap file name: sitemap-xml
    Use HTTPS in sitemaps: no
    Forward to another page: no
    Protect page: no
    Allowed member groups:
    Assign a layout: yes
    Page layout: basic
    Mobile page layout: basic
    Set cache timeout: no
Cache timeout: 0 (do not cache)
    Assign access rights: no
    Owner:
    Group:
    Access rights: u1, u2, u3, u4, u5, u6, g4, g5, g6
    Do not search: no
    CSS class:
    Show in sitemap:
    Hide from navigation: no
    Show to guests only: no
    Tab index: 0
    Access key:
    Publish page: yes
    Show from: -
    Show until: -
There are a lot of settings assembled in this dataset. Maybe the redirect-type a problem? At the moment I am trying to compare configuration details with the demo site.

Maybe it would be helpful when a starter kit would be provided with some basic theme and template configurations...

    Hello,

I did create a regular page. Now I am able to add new articles. However, the displayed folder structure is quite complex after adding a root page and a regular page, only...

Now I am able to continue my evaluation. Thank you.

You can install the extension official_demo to get the same content as in the online demo.
