Default Using Live Update with source files on own server?

In the settings you can set an URL for the Live Update, which defaults to the server of Leo. Is it also possible to point it to my own server, so that I can use it as a user friendly way of updating the sites on my server? If this is possible, how should the own "Live Update server" be configured?

You should contact Leo Feyer (the creator of TYPOlight). It might be possible that official partners get the ability to run their own live update servers.

"Live Update" is a commercial service and I don't think so that Leo let you run your own "Live Update" server. But you always can ask Leo...

In fact, the TYPOlight update interface is not limited to the iNet Robots service. You can go ahead and set up your own update service (I know at least two people who already did). I have made the update URL configurable for exactly this reason.

Thanks for the info. It is not my intention to start my own update service, but just to use it as a faster way to update the websites I administer for my clients (in stead of FTP). Were can I find some information on how to setup the server? What about the start screen with the logon, and what file structure and/or file(s) are expected?

Frank - I assume you know about the official Live Update service from here: http://www.inetrobots.com/live-update.html. (Thought I'd mention it just in case you somehow overlooked it.)

If you want to set up own LU server take a look at /system/modules/backend/ModuleMaintenance.php (and maybe /system/libraries/Request.php). By investigating the code, you should be able to set up the server as I did

Thanks, I already did investigate the code, but I am not very good with PHP coding .
I was hoping I could put the .zip or .gz file somewhere and use it as an update file without too much hassle.

@Ben, thanks, but I already knew of this service.

Maybe this is what you need then:

(Users posted in the german forum they updated to 2.8.0 with no problems using it)
Extensions: avatar, cron, dlstats, editarea, geshi, helpdesk, recall, rep_*, smhcheck.
