Date field auto-fills when trying to delete its content

Hi, I've got the latest version of the catalog installed.

I have non-mandatory fields for date input specified. If the field is left empty there are no issues. However, once a date has been entered and saved, you cannot clear the field after wards. Here is what happens:

When trying to Save and Close a cleared date field it displays as 1 Jan 1970 in the backend list, it displays nothing in the fontend. When going back into into the item to edit the field populates with todays date. It's impossible to permanenlly clear the field.

This seems like a bug. Is there anything that I can do now, and/or will this be fixed in the next update of the module?

this is a bug and there is a ticket as i know for it...

For the MetaModels (the new Catalog 3) is an github Projekt.. but i think there will be more Information in the near future.
