How to safely upgrade from version 2.9.0 to 3.1 ?
Do it step by step, i.e. first update to version 2.10.4, then to 2.11.11 and 3.0.6 and at last to version 3.1 (FYI: for tomorrow, the 3.1.1 bugfix release is planned).
